  • I'll be moving sooner rather than later. My stepdaughter has talked to social services and is looking ideally for a ground floor flat for me, and at worst a 1st floor one with a lift. She's also pressing for the mental health care to  be ramped up.

  • Slept better last night. Thorough OT/physio check. Most pain stems from right groin, and due to muscles being used that aren't normally used. Equipment is going to be provided. Have to do exercises. Walked a short way with a zimmer frame.

I'm really glad that you slept better! :D

What kind of equipment are they going to provide you?

Im so glad you have your S/daughter in your life...
Everyone on the spectrum should have an advocate like her.

Its good that you are being taken seriously.
I have mild scoliosis, or as i like to call it... a kinky spine lol, are you touch sensitive Firemonkey?
Ive found sports injury massages to be most helpful to assist mantain my back in a relatively pain free condition.
  • I'm not particularly touch sensitive.
  • How are you today, Firemonkey?
  • Thanks for asking.  Still quite a lot of pain on the left side. Have been given some sitting down exercises to do. Doing a few more things. Made m/wave porridge, prepared lunch for later, making some drinks, strip washed all but lower legs, walking a bit, under supervision, with a frame. Sleep is currently crap. Swinging my legs into bed is agony. Hard to get comfortable. Mood has been dipping around this time-anxious/cold/frightened tearful.
  • You should go back into your "high-IQ" forums.  There's nothing inherently wrong with them, unless you have paradoxical idiots in them.
  • I look at posts on them every now and then. I don't think I'm at my cognitive best at the moment though.
  • @firemonkey:

❤ Hope the pain eases soon and your mood improves.

    Thank you.
  • I'm wishing you a better sleep, and feeling better in general, so you can enjoy your intellectual pursuits better.

Thank you. Today has been a better day. Trying to do as much as I can for myself. Only managing to walk  short distances with a frame so far.

Are the exercises + walking short distances helping your pain at all? I'm very happy to hear that you're doing better today.
  • I think they're helping a bit.
  • How are you today firemonkey? Have you been able to take a proper shower/bath? How is the pain?
  • Tired.Sleep has been poor. The act of swinging my legs into the bed really aggravates my left leg. No baths or showers. Still having  strip washes. Managed to get from far  end of living room to toilet using the frame.
  • Is there a provision with the NHS for you to have an aide something like twice a week----like Medicare here in the US?
  • Currently I have these coming in each morning https://www.scie.org.uk/reablement/what-is/carers-family and physios Monday-Friday early afternoon.Stepfamily cover anything else.

  • That's pretty good.
  • Today was quite an intense day physiotherapy wise.I felt tearful due to frustration and feeling like I'm  failing. They've said I'm doing well, but I can't see that I am.

I'm sorry to hear that today was so frustrating. I'm sure that if they said you're doing well that they meant it, but I do get that it can be hard to notice that when you're the one doing the work. Hopefully physio gets easier and makes you feel more fulfilled as you improve. ❤
  • How are you doing firemonkey? Any improvement?
  • Sorry for the delay. Hard to tell re improvement .Codeine has had minimal effect on the pain. (S)/ daughter has spoken to the GP I think fentanyl is going to be prescribed. Physio has been put on hold till x rays are done.
  • I'm trying to do as much for myself as I can, but constantly think I'm failing. The pain-sleep situation is still not good at all. Even if I have a relatively good day pain wise it's undone in swinging the left leg onto the bed.Last few days pain has started radiating down to the lower half of my leg-sciatica?
  • Talked to GP via phone today. He reckons it's nerve related. He didn't specifically mention sciatica, but that tends to get worse when lying  down , which fits my situation.
