Can compliance be a form of masking?

Thoughts welcomed.

  • Yes, I think it can be. Sometimes, in order to survive, I had to kind of keep my head down and not attract attention to myself. The less control or influence I had over a situation, or the worse the person in charge was, the more this made a difference.

When I was a child I often had to just agree with or accept what others were imposing on me, but what was interesting was that often enough people were appeased just by me not challenging them and seeming compliant, even if I actually didn't do what was asked of me (if I could get away with it that is). It's a power thing.

Compliance is likely a form of masking in the NT world as well.
  • Great point
